Most higher learning institutions in the social sciences require students to submit their assignments, papers, and manuscripts using the writing style of the American Psychological Association (APA). Although there are a number of websites with APA writing style tips and examples, to the best of our knowledge, there is no actual on-line training program in APA.
We have created a two-part APA online program. Part I consists of a 150-question interactive training program that reviews 17 APA topical areas. There are 10-15 pages of instructional content that precede each set of interactive questions. The instructional content sections and the interactive question sections show both correct and incorrect examples of APA requirements.
Part II is a 50-question online APA test that can be used to validate APA writing style competency. Typically, students take the training program before they take the competency exam.
Although it is helpful to have the APA guide with the student while taking the online training program, it is not essential because there is enough instructional content to provide the necessary background and understanding of APA writing style.
Two versions of our APA writing style training and testing program are now available. We have a version based on the 5th Edition Guide and version based on the 6th Edition APA Guide (2009).
Our on-line APA training and testing program can readily be incorporated into your scholarly writing, research methodology, or library science courses. Some schools offer our APA program as a standalone requirement for your students.
Student cost for our on-line training program is $35, cost for our online APA test is $10. University faculty receive a 50%
discount if they wish to take the course or if your institution requires the course for faculty development purposes. We offer
up to 20% discounts based on quantity purchases of our APA program.
You can have your students purchase the material
directly from us using a secure e-commerce site or you can pre-purchase passwords in quantity format for distribution to your
students. Either way, we will honor discounts of 5-20% based on annual quantity requirements.

Each section has 5-10 interactive questions that provide feedback to the user so that APA style is truly taught and retained. For the APA test, the 50-question exam includes 3-4 questions per APA section as listed above.
